Funny Anectdote

It was a warm, but breezy day...a perfect cool under the Holly Cherry Tree where I was waiting for C to arrive on the school bus in front of the nearby elementary school. (C attends a "Primary Center" that is 2 blocks further north instead of this nearby school because the district is trying something "new".

A woman walks up the sloped walkway towards me, and I recognized it was the District Nurse.  We've spoken a few times in the past regarding C's severe food allergies.  She walked up and said, "Mrs. K right?  I just saw C the other day, we were at his school to give the children Colorblind tests.  He's so funny too!"  I cordially greeted her back and asked, "Yes, he's is funny, why was he so funny this time?"  She replied as she mimicked his matter-of-fact tone, "Well, he said 'You know, I'm NOT a 1st grader!'"  She continued with an indignant tone mimicking C, 'Why do I have to do this? Why are you doing this to me? I can see color fine!'

Oh geez, questioning Authority... yeap... he does that a LOT unless you explain why you're doing what you are.  He won't take orders blindly, he's been like that since he was little.  It's cute when they're little, but will be labeled a misfit/rebel in his teens! Yikes... I do try to teach him to be respectful to adults the best I can...
