C's Dilemmas

A few nights ago, while we were all sitting down for dinner, C sighs then says, "I'm sad..." I ask him, "Why?"  Wondering what can make a 7 yr old sad.  He replied, "I don't know who to marry since I only have one friend who's a girl.  I don't think L(she)'s the one I should marry." I just started laughing.... I know I shouldn't have, but I just found it preposterous for a 7 yr old to seriously consider looking for a life-long mate. (chuckle) So, my hubby and I told him, "C, don't worry about that kind of stuff. You still have a LONG way to go until you're grown up.  I think it's best if you worry about your studies first. Learn as much as you can, get through college and find your self a good steady job, then you can start worry about that."  I also added, "Once you're grown up, you can NEVER be a kid again. You should enjoy being a kid. You have most of your lifetime to be grown up and you'll wish you were a kid again, I sure feel that way!"  ....Why are kids so much in a rush to grow up?
